Buckley Sandler Webcast: State Regulatory and Enforcement Issues Series – Part Three: Fintech and Consumer Licensing and Regulation

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm EDT, Buckley Sandler hosted the third of its five-part series of webcasts focused on state regulatory and enforcement issues and trends. Building off the mortgage licensing and regulation discussion from May 11, this session turned to more recent state licensing and regulatory developments in the consumer loan space (e.g., marketplace lenders, student lenders, solar financing, auto financing), as well as the licensing of other fintech companies, including payments companies and other money transmitters and virtual currency companies.

  • John P. Bell, Counsel in the Washington, DC office of Buckley Sandler, assists clients in relation to regulatory examinations and enforcement actions by the CFPB, DOJ, and state attorneys general. He also represents clients in financial services transactional matters, including providing advice regarding regulatory due diligence, risk mitigation, and obtaining any necessary regulatory approvals

  • Part Five: Examination and Enforcement Trends: This session will discuss the potential for increased state examinations, including multi-state mortgage exams, for mortgage licensees, as well as recent state enforcement cases and increased activity by state attorneys general involving mortgage companies, marketplace lending platforms, and others
