Exempting government-backed securitizations from risk-retention requirements and pending FHFA changes may further hamper already stalled legislative efforts to unwind Fannie and Freddie and replace them with private companies and investors, according to Buckley Sandler LLP partner Jeffrey Naimon.
“This will further stymie private securitization,” he said.
