Tariq A. El-Baba is an Associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Buckley Sandler LLP. Mr. El-Baba assists financial services industry clients with regulatory, enforcement, and transactional matters. A Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Mr. El-Baba also aids clients with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering regulations compliance.
Before joining Buckley Sandler, Mr. El-Baba served as Associate General Counsel to a regional planning agency. His responsibilities included defending administrative decisions in state appellate courts; litigating claims in state trial courts; advising commissioners and agency staff on a wide range of regulatory and enforcement matters; drafting legislation; and negotiating and drafting complex regulatory, public-private partnership, and land-exchange agreements.
Mr. El-Baba received his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the American University International Law Review and received the T. Morton McDonald Scholarship Award for excellence in legal research. Before attending law school, Mr. El-Baba practiced as an architect in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (Honors).
