STAGE Network Webinar: The RMBS Working Group - Where Do Things Stand, Today?

Overview: The Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) Working Group, established a year ago, has recently filed several high-profile lawsuits against mortgage securities issuers and has indicated it will continue to do so. The recent surge in the Group's efforts provides the background for this webinar, reviewed what the Group has done over its first year of operations and what it might do in future. 

The Working Group is composed of key Federal agencies, as well as several state and local level partners including the offices of several state Attorneys General. It is charged with investigating and prosecuting violations related to the residential mortgage-backed securities market. The webinar included a discussion of current and anticipated actions by the Group, with a focus on key members such as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the state Attorneys General.  

The session included the insights of Andrew W. Schilling, former Chief of the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. He was joined by Nicole Gueron, former Deputy Chief Trial Counsel and member of the Executive Staff at the Office of the New York State Attorney General, of Clarick Gueron Reisbaum LLP. The discussion was moderated by Jeremiah S. Buckley of Buckley Sandler LLP.
